GAME RULES
This is a single game elimination competition, governed by high school federation rules and regulations with modifications that are listed below.
FORFEITS

Any team that forfeits a game will be banned from SMARTBALL CLASSIC No exceptions!
LATE ARRIVAL
-
Teams will be allotted a 15 minute grace time before the game is considered a forfeit.

Note: Late arriving teams are automatically dropped after the 2018 competition and will be evaluated prior to team consideration for 2019 no matter the talent level and/or the coach.
GAME PLAY

TIMEOUTS

Four 30 second timeouts per game.
TEAM FOULS/PERSONAL FOULS

Seven (7) team fouls; BONUS: One & One.

Ten (10) team fouls; Double Bonus (Two Shots)

Each player will be given six (6) fouls before disqualification.
COACH & PLAYER CONDUCT (TECHNICAL FOUL RULE)

Any coach or athlete administered a technical foul will be disqualified from the tournament.

Reinstatement will be determined by the SMARTBALL CLASSIC Director of Sports, YES INC. CEO, and Board of Directors.
BENCH MANAGEMENT

It is required that each participating SMARTBALL School be accompanied by the team’s Official Head Coach and/or Registered Assistant Coaches for every game the team participates.

Only twelve (12) players, one (1) head coach, and two (2) assistant coaches are allowed on the bench.

During game play, only the head coach can stand on the sideline and communicate with the officials. If this rule is violated, the head coach will be issued a technical foul and disqualified from the game. (See technical foul rule above)

Each team is allowed a scorekeeper at the scorer's table.

Parents or any other team personnel are NOT allowed on the bench or to approach the scorer's table. If this rule is not adhered to, a technical foul will be administered to the head coach, which result in their disqualification.
ATHLETE PARTICIPATION

All athletes must be enrolled at the participating school for the upcoming semester in order to eligible to compete.

Freshman and transfers are eligible to compete, but if the student-athlete is not on any of the schools 2018-2019 official roster, the school will be banned from SMARTBALL CLASSIC basketball competition for 2 years.

No appeals or exceptions will be heard by the SMARTBALL CLASSIC governing body.
